Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) has come forward in support of trans rights as UK activists urge people to fill out a government-led public consultation to reform the Gender Recognition Act 2004 (GRA).
The Gender Recognition Act is a ground-breaking piece of legislation that came into action in 2004, allowing people with gender dysphoria to change their legal gender, but now campaigners are seeking to alter the law.
Activists are now fighting to have the GRA changed to allow people to self-identify their gender without rigorous medical checks to prove they’re living in their truth, and Emma’s support is bringing the fight into the mainstream spotlight.
In a photo on her Instagram feed, she wears a white t-shirt with the slogan ‘Trans Rights are Human Rights’, alongside tagging multiple trans and LGBTQ+ organisations.
Emma Watson was seen on set of Little Women on October 07, 2018.
As the title says, Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) was spotted filming scenes for her upcoming movie project Little Women in Boston on October 07, in which she’s playing Meg March.
The movie is an adaption of Louisa May Alcott’s seminal novel, which turned 150 earlier this year. In order to capture the authentic feeling of 1868 Boston, filmmakers laid down a layer of dirt on a portion of Dartmouth Street near where it intersects Marlborough Street.
Alongside Emma, Little Women is set to star actress Meryl Streep, Timothee Chalamet, Laura Dern, and Saoirse Ronan, and will be directed by Greta Gerwig. The film is scheduled to shoot from October through December in Boston, Concord, Ipswich, Lawrence, and the Lexington/Burlington area, and is slated to hit theaters December 25, 2019.
Two weeks ago, Emma Watson (Hermione Grsnger) shared a post on her Twitter account, announcing she’d finally met her current Our Shared Shelf author, New York Times bestselling “Instapoet” Rupi Kaur, for an interview about all things literature, as well as their common interests in women’s equality and amplifying the conversation surrounding women and sexual violence.
Today, finally, Emma posted snippets and the YouTube link to the full interview on her official Instagram account. Watch the complete interview below.
Emma Watson, our beloved actress who portrayed Hermione Granger, was among the 70,000 people attending this year’s Burning Man event. Emma looked to be in wonderful spirits as she posed for a photo while also enjoying the festivities.
For those of you who don’t know about the Burning Man: It’s an annual pilgrimage, where a temporary city erects in the Black Rock Desert of northwest Nevada, approximately 100 miles (160 km) north-northeast of Reno. The late summer event is described as an experiment in community and art, influenced by ten main principles: “radical” inclusion, self-reliance, and self-expression, as well as community cooperation, civic responsibility, gifting, decommodification, participation, immediacy, and leaving no trace”.
Burning Man isn’t your usual festival. It’s a city wherein almost everything that happens is created entirely by its citizens, who are active participants in the experience.
Currently, Emma is gearing up to begin work on Greta Gerwig’s new film Little Women. Emma is set to join Saorise Ronan, Laura Dern, and Meryl Streep in the upcoming retelling of the classic book.
